Rotary Hearth Calcining technology is used for high-temperature thermal treatment of petroleum coke. Raw Petroleum Coke granules are rapidly heated in these furnaces to temperatures of around 1400°C to produce Calcined Pet Coke (CPC). This is a great alternative to horizontal Rotary Kilns and Vertical Shaft Calciners. This flexible and agile technology provides many benefits such as low cost, low site area occupation, and higher yield among many others.
Key benefits over horizontal Rotary Kilns and vertical Shaft Kilns:
- Highest recovery of calcined coke per ton of raw coke. Up to 10% less raw material loss.
- Lower particulate emissions because coke fines are not entrained in the exhaust.

The conventional Rotary Hearth Furnace technology is customized by Tehran Tak Industial Carbon Production Co. to meet the demands of today’s calciners faced with tighter environmental regulations and varying feed qualities and quantities.
Our latest installation included a 30 t/day and a 50 t/day furnace. These furnaces process petroleum coke with high percentage of fines without any problem. The typical analysis of the product was: C > 98%, S < 0.6%, Ash < 0.6%, and zero amounts of Volatile Matter, moisture, and oil. The coke product is used as high quality Recarburizer for the Iron and Steel industries. It has received quality approval from international references such as R&D Carbon, as well SGS Netherlands and Turkey.
