Direct Current Electric Arc Furnaces (DC-EAF)

    DC Electric Arc Furnace

Direct Current Electric Arc Furnaces (DC-EAF) are used to produce various Ferroalloys such as Ferrosilicon, Ferromanganese, Silicomanganese, Ferronickel, and high carbon Ferrochrome, as well as silicon metal. A single self-baking (Soderberg) carbon electrode is used for smelting, instead of three graphite electrodes of the AC furnace. The bottom hearth is crafted to act as the second electrode. This method slashes costs and ensures a stable submerged arc with low-flicker and low-consumption performance.

    Key Benefits:

    • Production of various Ferroalloys such as FeSi 75%, FeMn, FeSiMn, FeNi, and high carbon FeCr, as well as silicon metal is possible.
    • Up to 25% less electrical power consumption compared to 3 phase AC EAFs.
    • A single low cost self-baking electrode is used for smelting, instead of three graphite electrodes fo AC furnace.
    • Single electrode DC design ensures a more stable and controllable arc is maintained throughout the process.
    • Easier electrical and mechanical repair and maintenance
    • Lower Environmental pollution
    • Very low flicker and reactive power consumption
    • Balanced electrical load on the three power phases

DC Electric Arc Furnace manufactured at Tehran Tak:

Tehran Tak Alloys Co. pioneers in design and construction of submerged arc furnaces using DC-EAF technology with single self-baking electrode for production of various ferroalloys in Asia. Our submerged arc furnaces have been successfully used to smelt alloys such as FeSi 75, FeMn, FeSiMn. We can provide these furnaces at various capacities to costumers around the globe.
